Cottage in Grand marais, MN
13.3 miles from Saganaga Lake
Come enjoy this wonderful lake shore cottage up the Gunflint Trail 38 miles from Grand Marais. We are open May through September. Our cottage is located on beautiful Loon Lake adjacent to the BWCA. Loon Lake is known for BIG fish, the question is whether or not you can catch them! You will have your own private dock for swimming, fishing and watching sunsets. There is a canoe provided so you can explore the lake. You can arrange motorized fishing boat rental or bring your own boat to the launch just down the road from the cottage. Our source of water is lake drawn. This cabin is rustic. No access to internet or cell phones. New Covid-19 policy:guest to bring linens/towels. No Pets. Take advantage of direct access to the Boundary Waters Canoe and Wilderness Area (BWCA) from our cottage. The BWCA is one of North America's largest wilderness areas with over one thousand lakes and streams within its boundaries. When you're done playing outside, come inside to relax and get comfortable in your private, cozy knotty pine cottage. We have two bedrooms and one bathroom. One bedroom is furnished with a queen sized bed and the other bedroom has a double bed and pine bunk beds. Our source of water is lake drawn from Loon Lake. This cabin is rustic. We do not have access to internet or cell phones. Our living space allows you to continue to enjoy the lake view from our large picture window. *New for 2019: Driveway has been resurfaced and new fridge. We feel confident you will enjoy your stay and exploring this rustic area. Don't forget to get your camera ready for the moose and other wildlife often seen on the drive up to our cottage on the Gunflint Trail. The Gunflint Trail starts in Grand Marais which is two hours north of Duluth and about 40 miles from the Canadian border. Our cabin is up the Gunflint Trail which is a beautiful drive about 45 miles from Grand Marais. There is limited resources on the Gunflint Trail. We recommend getting your gas and groceries in Grand Marais. (Grocery stores often close at 6:00pm and closed Sundays). Some items available at Trail Center, 8 miles from cabin. We feel confident you will enjoy the blessing of the wilderness! Thank you for choosing to vacation at our cottage! Enclosed you will find directions to the cottage, information about where to find the key and other helpful hints to make your stay as relaxing and fun as possible. Check-in after 4pm and check out by 10 am. Recent changes due to Covid-19 (as of 5/9/20) We want to continue to share our cabin with others during this uncertain time so my husband and I have spent some time trying to figure out how to rent the cottage this summer and at the same time keep your family safe as well as ours. After collaborating with other local rental companies we have determined that the best way to make this happen is to have guests bring their linens/bedding (see below). As it is nearly impossible for us to avoid back to back stays we will work hard to sanitize the cabin between guests. If you are uncomfortable with this new change in our policy, please let us know asap and we will accept your cancellation with regret for a full refund. We are convinced, however, that there is still loads of fun to be had in the North Woods and hope you find these changes doable. Thank you for your understanding. We also want to make sure you are aware of how things have changed in Cook County and Grand Marais proper as Covid-19 precautions have been put into place. Stores are open however they require mask wearing. Here is a website to find the most updated information for Grand Marais businesses https://www.visitcookcounty.com/ Please let us know asap if you have any questions about these changes. 13.4 miles from Saganaga Lake
This lovely lakefront cabin will be your place to create memorable experiences in the northwoods. Relax and slow down. We are located a short hike to the edge of the BWCAW; on a 1095 acre, 202 feet deep lake for fishing, paddling, or sight-seeing; and near many of the Gunflint Trail's historic lodges and sites. This spot is ideal! Bring your camera for wildlife and spectacular scenery! This cabin is a rustic, original 1930"s log cabin with only lake water pumped in for washing--not for drinking. The bathroom is an outhouse about 10 feet from the cabin made of original logs also. The airy, window lined bedroom sleeps 2 in a double, regular size bed. A third person can sleep on a single bed in the main room. This main room is used for cooking, eating and sitting. We ask you to bring your own linens for the beds and kitchen towels, etc.; and carry out your trash. The cabin has an electric stove and a good size refrigerator with a very small freezer compartment. (Think 1 pound ground beef and 1 can frozen OJ not for ice cream!) It is available only from the end of May through September. Most of your time will be outdoors. we provide a 14 ft. fishing boat with oars, a canoe with paddles and 2 life jackets, and 1 kayak with paddle for your enjoyment. Boat with motor or a pontoon boat can be rented from the Loon Lake Lodge nearby. Your private dock has a nice bench and platform for fishing, reading, or sun-bathing. If you are adventurous, you can try stand-up paddle boarding on our sailboard turned SUP with paddle. Be sure to wear a life jacket! This is the wilderness so there will be bugs. Usually during the day and by the water they are less. Also come prepared for cool weather even in July and August. The night sky is the clearest in the US east of the Mississippi River. So step out at night and look up. You will be amazed at how many stars there are and at the brilliance of the Milky Way! There are many hiking trails in the area- stop in Grand Marais at the Visitor Center on Highway 61 for a brochure or visit their before you leave home. There is no cellphone coverage or internet. We provide a phone for local calls only. The nearest grocery store is in Grand Marais about 40 miles away. As is the closest hospital and clinic. The grocery stores close at 7 pm and are not open on Sunday. The Cook County Whole Foods Coop is open daily 9am-7pm. Grand Marais has lots to see and do so a trip into town is worth it if you're staying several days. Keywords- lakeshore, cabin on Gunflint Trail, BWCA, canoe, relax, Northwoods;

The cabin features two enclosed bedrooms downstairs and a vaulted ceiling bedroom loft in which you can easily move around. A large screened in porch provides a nice view of Moose Lake and the hills of Canada's Quetico Provincial Park in the distance. Cabin (2000 sq. ft.) in Lutsen, MN
31.6 miles from Saganaga Lake
Bella Lago is the kind of log cabin on a remote wilderness lake that we have all dreamed about visiting. It is the perfect blend of rustic charm and modern convenience. This 2+ bedroom, 2 bath log home accommodates adult couples and their families for fishing, hiking, swimming, and kayaking adventures. And within 20 miles, you can dine out, golf, or shop in Lutsen or Grand Marais. There is a large screen porch to enjoy the outdoors while drinking your morning coffee and listening to the loons. There is a modern, well-equipped kitchen to create family meals and memories. The casual recreation room in the lower level offers an extensive movie library, games, and a great place for your kids to work on puzzles or play cards and board games. The log home is located on the shoreline of the western end of Pike Lake. Access to Pike Lake is via the Caribou Trail/County Road 4 outside of Lutsen. This is a comfortable and spacious log home with many modern conveniences suitable for creating wonderful family memories. Pike Lake is a large clear water lake with excellent fishing and peaceful canoeing, boating, and kayaking. For a really good time, bring your bikes and do some riding on the gravel roads and trails. Or head out on the lake to catch a few fish for your dinner. Note To Potential Guests: Many of our guests have commented on how neat, clean, and welcoming we keep Bella Lago. To prevent overuse, we don't rent the place intensively, e.g., we are not striving for full occupancy all year long. Hence we will only accept a limited number of bookings throughout the rental season and we only accept small groups (adult couples or families with young children) for weeklong/six-night stays during the peak summer months (July and August) and long weekends during the off-season (fall and spring). Normal check-in during peak season is on Sunday afternoons after 4p and check-out is on Saturday mornings before 10a. We have more flexibility for check-in and check-out times during the off-season. While Bella Lago is spacious, this is not the right place for large groups or people who are looking for a place to party hardy.

Our cozy little cabin is right on the shores of Devil Track Lake. We have nearly 100' of shoreline so you'll have your own space but it's only 15 minutes to town. With everything the Northshore has to offer, you'll never get bored and our place is the perfect home base for all the fun activities. For more info, check out our website, search 'Cozy Cabin in the Bay' in your favorite search engine. The space One of the most unique features of this cabin is its close proximity to the water and spectacular views from the living room windows and deck. Located on the north shore of Devil Track Lake, and being only 15 minutes from Grand Marais makes it easy to run into town to enjoy the local entertainment, shopping, music, and restaurants the 'Coolest Small Town in America' has to offer. The cabin sits 50 feet from the water’s edge and it’s difficult to find a window that isn’t completely consumed by the sparkling water and trees. You’ll be amazed at how quiet and peaceful it is in the bay, which offers a refuge of calm, clear water sheltered by Devil’s Point and perfect for swimming, stand-up paddle boarding, canoeing or kayaking even on those breezy days. The bay is also a favorite spot for loons to hang out! The views from the dock and fire pit are almost completely undeveloped and make for an excellent place to look up at the night sky. The recently remodeled Cabin can sleep up to 5 comfortably. It has one bedroom with a queen size bed and additional sleeping on a queen size pull-out couch and a single day-bed in the living room. There is 1 bathroom with a bathtub & shower, and a full, spacious kitchen with stove and fridge. The cabin is equipped with a propane heater and has a wood burning fireplace to keep it cozy year round.. Our place is professionally cleaned and the linens are commercially laundered for each stay. Other things to note Two aluminum canoes with two paddles & two adult size life jackets are free to use with all rentals, please bring children’s life jackets. There are also two bikes available for guest use, please bring helmets if you plan to ride. And there is one kayak and paddle available as well. These are all available seasonally, not year round. Please be sure to wear the proper safety equipment when using the canoes, kayak, and bikes. For those who want to bring a boat to fish or cruise the lake, a public landing is located in the corner of the bay and provides easy access for launching your boat. We have a dock available to use seasonally. We do allow dogs but please be sure to give us a heads up they’re coming when you request to book. There will be a $15/dog per night fee added after booking. Limit 2 dogs. Dogs Only. Our place is professionally cleaned and the linens are commercially laundered for each stay. We are delighted to host you in our two luxurious and comfortable cabins on beautiful Pike Lake. Thank you for considering us for your next vacation get-away. Please know that our caretaking staff is following the current best practices for providing a safe, healthy, and clean environment on our property. Given the extra cleaning, we now have a full day between guests. The Cabins When you stay with us, you have 2 options: For groups of 4 or less, the Main Cabin is perfect. For more space and privacy, you can also rent guest cabin for an additional $125/night. For groups of 5-8: You must rent both cabins, the main cabin + the guest cabin for an additional $125/night These traditional cabins have been meticulously updated for modern living without compromising their North Shore Arrowhead heritage. They sit just across the yard from each other yet still have ample space between them to offer privacy. The Main Cabin has two bedrooms and the Guest Cabin is a studio. Each has a contemporary kitchen and bath, a gas fireplace, and a lake-facing deck. We offer a wonderful shared space for families and multi-family vacations. We do not rent the cabins separately, so when you rent with us, the property is exclusively yours. A third building, a renovated boathouse, serves as a screened porch, and is located a few feet from the shoreline. It is a wonderful place for solitude. Want to sit out under the stars by a fire and make S’mores? We have a beautiful spot, a slate fire pit also just a few feet from the lake. Create lasting memories. Bring your family and friends to “The Cabins” to enjoy Pike Lake’s beauty and serenity. Swim off the dock and wade on the pebble beach in the crystal-clear shallow water – perfect for kids! Take one or both of our canoes (including our famous “Pirate Canoe”) or our kayak for a tour of the amazing and secluded Pike Lake. Don’t forget your fishing poles! Please note that we do not allow pets. During the summer months we prefer week-long stays and we welcome weekend and midweek bookings through the rest of the year. The Surrounding Area There are so many things to see and do, all year round, close by. Visit Grand Marais, the “Coolest Small Town in America” with it’s beautiful Lake Superior harbor, art galleries, and many restaurants – have breakfast at the Blue Water Café or pizza at Sven and Ole’s. Enjoy a meal at the Crooked Spoon, the Angry Trout, or the Dockside Fish Market. Listen to live music at the Gun Flint Tavern. Travel south 25 minutes to Lutsen Mountains, “mid-America’s largest ski resort,” for skiing, Gondola rides, Alpine slides, golf, and a number of restaurants and bars (check the local listings link for live bands that play throughout the year.) For that special occasion visit the romantic and historic Lutsen Resort Dining Room. The food and lake views are, like the lake, superior! Like to hike or mountain bike? You’ve come to the right place! Lake Superior, picturesque waterfalls and parks, hiking trailheads, and back roads are just minutes away from “The Cabins.” The fall colors are spectacular on Pike Lake and throughout this area. In the winter, along with great downhill skiing, our location gives you immediate access to miles of groomed cross-country ski trails including the Norpine Trail Association system. A parking lot/trailhead is 2.5 miles from “The Cabins.” 57km of cross country skiing, hiking, and mountain biking trails are just minutes away! The trails wind through mature maple forests, mixed evergreens, and North Country wildlife. A number of the trails have spectacular views of Lake Superior and connect up to the Cascade River State Park Trails. The trails are well marked and maps are available online. Our Invitation to You There is plenty to do and, if you like, there is nothing “to do” at “The Cabins.” You are most welcome and warmly invited to spend time throughout the year with us.
